To Dante & Support Us for biblical ministry, protect genuine Pastors, promote sound doctrine, and provide resources for training and accountability.
The Pastors Council of India (PCI Trust), as a registered body dedicated to the welfare of pastors, Christians, and churches across India, seeks faithful support to advance biblical ministry, protect genuine leaders, promote sound doctrine, and provide resources for training and accountability.
The Bible encourages cheerful, voluntary giving to support God’s work, while strongly warning against manipulative or self-serving appeals that exploit believers.
Biblical Principles for Seeking and Giving Support
Scripture teaches that giving is an act of worship, stewardship, and love, not compulsion or manipulation.
Cheerful and Voluntary Giving: “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7, NIV). Appeals for support should inspire joyful participation, never pressure or guilt.
Proportional and Sacrificial Giving: “Each of you must bring a gift in proportion to the way the LORD your God has blessed you” (Deuteronomy 16:17, NIV). The widow’s mite shows that God values the heart more than the amount: “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all the others… she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on” (Luke 21:3-4, NIV).
Supporting Ministry and the Needy: The early church collected offerings regularly to meet needs: “On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income” (1 Corinthians 16:2, NIV). Funds supported apostles, the poor, and spreading the Gospel (Acts 4:34-35; Philippians 4:15-18).
Warnings Against Exploitation: False teachers are condemned for greed: “They think that godliness is a means to financial gain” (1 Timothy 6:5). Peter warns of false prophets who “in their greed… exploit you with fabricated stories” (2 Peter 2:3). Giving must never be twisted into promises of personal wealth or coerced through emotional manipulation.
Genuine ministry appeals—like those from accountable bodies such as the Pastors Council of India—focus on advancing Christ’s kingdom, equipping pastors, evangelists, church members, and Bible college lecturers through training, protection, and fellowship.
Heart-Touching Biblical Stories on Giving
The Bible provides powerful, emotional examples that touch the heart and illustrate pure motives in giving and receiving support.
1.The Widow’s Offering (Luke 21:1-4; Mark 12:41-44)
Jesus watched rich people give large sums, but praised a poor widow who gave two small coins—everything she had. This story touches hearts because it shows sacrificial love, humility, and trust in God. Her gift was not forced but from a willing heart. True appeals honor such givers, using funds transparently for God’s work, not personal gain.
2. The Early Church’s Generosity (Acts 4:32-35)
Believers shared everything: “All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had… There were no needy persons among them.” Funds were laid at the apostles’ feet for distribution. This communal giving touched lives by eliminating poverty and spreading the Gospel— a model for honest, need-based support today.
3. The Macedonian Churches’ Joyful Giving Despite Poverty (2 Corinthians 8:1-5)
Amid severe trials, these believers gave generously and begged for the privilege to contribute to helping others. “They gave themselves first of all to the Lord” (v. 5). Their story moves us with overflowing joy in giving, even in hardship—reminding us that true ministry support flows from devotion to Christ, not obligation.
4. Contrast: The Sin of Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11)
They sold property but lied about the full amount given, keeping some back while pretending full surrender. God judged them severely. This heart-breaking story warns against deceit in giving or receiving—leaders must handle funds with utmost integrity, and donors should give honestly.
5. Abraham’s Tithe to Melchizedek (Genesis 14:18-20)
After victory, Abraham gave a tenth to the priest-king Melchizedek, a picture of honoring God first. This voluntary act blessed Abraham and prefigures New Testament giving to support spiritual leadership.
